Essex and Wales collide as Gavin and Stacey fall in love and bring their friends, family and luggage with them. Apart from the scenes filmed in London in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including the scenes set in Essex. The house used as the Shipman (Gavin’s family) home is in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In series 3, Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers than in the previous series. Gavin’s Blue Saxophone has changed from a T-reg (MY 1999) to an X-reg (MY 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso has changed from a CV02 (MY 2002, registered Cardiff) to an HV54 (MY 2004, registered Portsmouth). Apparently they are different cars. Appears in Gavin & Stacey: Outtakes (2007). Directed by Stephen Fretwell. Starring Stephen Fretwell. I have to say I can’t fully understand the previous reviewer because I think they’re on a different planet than anyone else and I felt compelled to set the record straight. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. It has a fantastic cast and a brilliantly written script by Ruth Jones and James Corden. The show revolves around Gavin (a boy from Essex) and Stacey (a receptionist from Barry Island) who start a relationship over the phone while at work. The response to the series has been so good that a second season has already been ordered.
